The 2017 sold-out show opened with our radio host, Michael Ball, in his studio, bringing to life a radio show like no other radio show. He takes us on a magical journey of stardust memories and golden radio days dedicated to the legacy of Fred Astaire, one of the Hollywood’s finest song and dance men.
Michael is in conversation with modern day Fred fans such as Darcey Bussell, Twiggy, legendary songwriter Don Black, fashion designer Bruce Oldfield, tap legend Gregory Hines as well as Hollywood legends including Gene Kelly, Cyd Charisse, Ginger Rogers, Irving Berlin, Fred’s longtime choreographer Hermes Pan and members of Fred’s family. They all talk about aspects of Fred’s talent and his incredible impact on Hollywood’s Golden Age.
We witness a visual treat from Strictly Come Dancing’s Aljaz and Janette, together with our cast of fabulous dancers, musicians and singers. They take us on a beautiful journey of song and dance, reminiscing one of Hollywood’s greatest screen legends and entertainers.
Our ears are treated to the classic songs from the American Songbook written by the George & Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter. Our talented cast will pay tribute in song and dance to one of Hollywood’s Golden Greats, treating us to a magical evening of top hat, white tie and with some wonderful tales!
In 2017 over 50,000 people enjoyed this incredible spectacle. It will be returning in 2018 for another 50 shows, with new songs, new dance routines, new staging and this time, with interviews featuring the legend that is Fred Astaire.
